Spiders – Killer Machine Review

Four years ahead of their second album Shake Electric the Swedish Spiders have spawned another absolutely wonderful classic rock inspired album. Killer Machine is a heavy rock symposium riffing on the swinging sixties within a societal context. It’s making me believe that Rock is the Country music of Gen X, and you know what, it’s honest and sincere; it’s cool and seriously rockin’.

Much of Killer Machines’ appeal comes from its excellent rhythm. It’s got groove and splendor with riffs that compliment the pacing through melodic enchantment while now and then dabbling in the odd pastiche to artists gone by. Using pedals and effects to the tune of creating an otherworldly sound scape. Killer Machine has got a rich and detailed texture that feels substantial.

Killer Machine is an incredibly diverse album, having amazing bridges and classy solos. The guitar work is a labyrinthine maze easy to get lost in. Fortunately the melodies are guided on through by the excellent vocals that sound natural in contrast to the power behind the guitars.

Spiders are a like a solvent as their fine tuned choruses will stick to silence long after you’ve heard them. The energy on Killer Machine never drops. Maintaining a soylent edge that is sure to consume more than just time. Killer Machine is the web that caught the Iron Butterfly.
