Picks Of The Month: January 2020

Okay, I’ll admit it. We were a little quiet last year and definitely neglected our monthly picks article! However, we’re back and ready to recommend some of the albums we liked best from January 2020.

Nat’s Picks

Dead End Finland – Inter Vivos

Consistently excellent, Dead End Finland’s fourth album is another mighty offering from the band. Powerful vocals, excellent synthesised lines and an overall fantastic heaviness to it all, what’s not to like?

Savage Hands – The Truth In Your Eyes

This EP gets straight to the point with no messing about. Dicepeople are back in style!

Dave’s Picks

In the immortal words of Abbath “[…] fuck’s this?”

Thy Catafalque – Naiv
Track to check out: Tsitsushka

With the popularity of metal and every c-word (-apitalist) and their Mum wanting in on the gig there has been an influx of homogenised drivel splurting out of every gutiar neck that dreamt of sex, draugen and rock and roll since Seps. But was I ever blown away to hear this etymologicaly divergent record. I am not going to stand back up (from being floored by this album) though as I would rather continue to enjoy this album without having to contest its brilliance.

Brothers of Metal – Emblas Saga
Track to check out: Kaunaz Dagaz

I am mouse. Mouse like cheese. Album: cheesier than gym socks.

Infected Mushroom – Ani Mevushal
