The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing – Double Negative Review

Released on: 9th March 2018

According to The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing there’s going to be a revolution! However in hindsight it wasn’t much of a revolution was it now? It was just a bunch of shit-stirrers trying to rally off from the zeitgeist of the French one. It makes you wonder though; it really makes you wonder.

Now while of the subjects of hindsight and The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing: looking back at the preceding tracks on their latest album Double Negative, the ones before There’s Going To Be A Revolution, these preceding events have a distinct character that accurately profile the causes and ideas that would create such a happenstance.

Double Negative for all its waffle is an infectious conglomeration of British history and modern music. With its riffs and style firmly rooted in punk they trade off with acerbic narratives based on many of Britains’ more unsavory characters. The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing have made history fun. At least a lot more fun than sitting through your Grandads photographic and/or phonographic memorabilia. However both scenarios have got routes that quickly begin to look all too familiar.

As they say: those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeated it. On Double Negative and through its allusions to Steampunk there lies a very modern sentiment augmented by dank and nasty guitar work that’s more reminiscent of black metal. Helping to reaffirm the resolute argument of what lies behind all punk music: an anti-establishment noise. The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing have got that down perfectly and Double Negative is a fun autumnal romp through anarchistic Victorian England.
