Lik – Carnage Review

Release date: 4th May 2018

HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. To put it absolutely plainly, this album is absolutely incredible. Lik first appeared on my radar via Bloodbath (I saw them at Eistnaflug with Lik’s vocalist/guitarist Tomas playing guitar for them) and after being very impressed by their debut, I’ve been eagerly anticipating new material from them ever since – and needless to say, they did not disappoint with Carnage.

Carnage is death metal at its absolute finest. Ten face-meltingly awesome tracks to get your head banging, this is an absolutely relentless album that doesn’t give you time to catch your breath as the band powers through each song. Each song has just as much energy and momentum as the last, largely in part to the sheer force of the drumline, and the songs feature some excellent solos and powerful vocals throughout.

There’s plenty to contend with over the course of Carnage, with one of the strongest tracks being later track The Deranged. The vocal performance is punchy and memorable, with the lyrics swiftly getting under your skin, and the squealing, noisy guitar solo adds a great chaotic vibe to the song as well. Left To Die is another fantastic inclusion, featuring some of the strongest guitar lines, riffs and solos of the album, and it will certainly get your head banging before it comes to a close.

This is a special album, make no mistake of it, and to say I’ve been blown away by it is somewhat of an understatement. Carnage is incredible, and is one of the best examples of death metal I’ve heard for a very long time.

10/10
