Interview with Then Comes Silence

We had a quick chat with Then Comes Silence, who have just released their latest digest Hunger. And, are preparing to get set and tour Consumer America.

“I think the devil looks like everyone’s self image…”

Your new album “Hunger” is out now. Tell me, what does “Hunger” mean to you?

Alex: [It is] all the frustration and need for consumption we have been holding in for two years coming out at the same time.

Did David Bowie posthumously inspire the concept behind the album with his role in the 1983 film “The Hunger”?

Hugo: We love David Bowie and he has inspired us on so many levels, but I cannot really say that his role in The Hunger is one of them.

Have you seen it, what did you think?

Hugo: The movie is great, you can not go wrong with David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve and Bauhaus in a vampire love story, but it has nothing to do with the album concept.

There are a lot of (really cool) masks in the video for the single Rise To The Bait. Now, while I have some idea, what do you think the devil looks like?

Mattias: I think the devil looks like everyone’s self image. The bad in people.

Alex: Like me, you and all of us.

How are you feeling about going on the road to tour after the global economic intermission?

Jonas: It feels great of course, especially since we could not tour at all with the last album Machine. It’s when you play live you actually get the response for all the hard work, and countless hours, you put into making a new album. We are very excited to try out the new songs in the open!

Thanks for your time, guys. Take care.
