Last month, I thought that King Satan’s collab with Erja Lyytinen (aka Finland’s Queen of the slide guitar) was one of the best collab tracks I’d hear all year. Well, just over a month later Windwaker are here to challenge that thought of mine, with their new single click., which is a full collab track with the awesome RinRin.
Having first discovered Windwaker via a promo copy of Hyperviolence two years ago, I’ve been hooked ever since. This band’s music has me in a chokehold; they are incapable of making a bad track, and because of this I naturally had high expectations for their latest offering – especially since I’m also a RinRin fan, so surely it makes for a winning combination.
click. is a song that will just immediately grab you. Everything about it just feels perfectly placed and positioned, and the two vocal sections from Liam and RinRin complement each other very well – with the chorus in particular being such an earworm it’ll be stuck in your head for days. Meanwhile on the instrumental side of things, I personally really enjoy how everything hits you like a tonne of bricks almost immediately after the first vocal section. It doesn’t just grab your attention, it demands it.
Feeling like a commentary on this ever-shifting digital world that we live in with constant surveilance, the hard-hitting subject matter melds perfectly with the in-your-face track and forces you to pay attention, resulting in an extremely memorable song you won’t be forgetting about in a hurry. Windwaker and RinRin have really nailed it with this song!
