Three Reasons Why Brutal Assault 2019 Will Kick Ass

Even though it is five months away, we’re already salivating just looking at the lineup for Brutal Assault 2019: Anthrax, Emperor, Batushka, Mgła, Eyehategod, Hypocrisy, Meshuggah, Jinjer, and many more bands promise to make it one of the most brutal yet eclectic dates in the European summer festival calendar. In a series of articles between now and the kickoff date of August 7, we will outline the reasons why you should get your ass over to the Czech Republic, our picks from the monster lineup, and tips for traveling to and surviving this showcase of extreme metal.

Top Three Reasons Why Brutal Assault 2019 Will Be Brutally Kick Ass

1. Location/Culture
Brutal Assault will be held at the legendary 18th century army fortress of Josefov in Jaroměř, Czech Republic, just a two-hour train ride from Prague. Let’s be honest: how many metal festivals have you been to that are situated in the middle of a historical landmark? Yeah, we thought so. What makes the location more interesting is that the stages are set up around the outer walls of the fortress, adding to the distinct atmosphere surrounding the event. In addition, Czech Republic is one of best value propositions for sightseeing and ease of travel; the country has a rich and proud history, and a phenomenal culinary (and beer) tradition dating back hundreds of years. The best thing about visiting the Czech Republic? All the touristy activities are very affordable and the service is top-notch! There will be plenty of food and drink available at the festival itself. Get ready to tear into a leg of ham and wash it down with some frothy Czech beer. Ha, just kidding! There will be plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices on offer as well.

2. Lineup
Being the quintessential extreme metal event of central Europe, the phenomenal lineup includes genre-defining acts from all over the world. From psychedelic rock and metalcore to death and black metal, there is simply something for everyone’s tastes. Many of the genre’s biggest acts including Emperor, Soilwork, Krisiun and many others will be there. 3. Value
Three-day passes are currently €90 on the festival’s official website: https://brutalassault.cz/en/tickets. That’s right, for a mere $102 or £78 for our US and UK readers, you can experience an unforgettable three days and nights of cacophonous debouchery. Combine that with round trip flights from New York to Prague in August at just $535, and London to Prague at £85, Brutal Assault becomes the best summer 2019 value proposition for metalheads anywhere. But hurry as this promotional offer ends in April and ticket prices will probably go up.
