Örnatorpet – Hymner Från Snökulla Review

Released on: 11th January 2019

Let your mind wander and be revitalized with this self-stylized dungeon synth album from solo Swedish act Örnatorpet. A compendium of ten somber tracks complete with wistful melancholia. And a beautiful, if not tonally homo phonic, album that branches around a solid foundation of bright hits and soft, cool pads.

Called Hymner Från Snökulla – Örnatorpets’ forth album is an inspired and resplendent concert complete with dream-like melodies that dance like sprites to transmit on a emotional level. Adding credence to the idea that there is beauty in suffering. So if fear is the mind killer then this is the salve to ease the voyage to the other side.

Although the composition is limited to the brisk and cold timbres of a frozen landscape Örnatorpet makes the most of this restricted choir and captures the essence of winter with melodies that play in odd meters like living memories of a warm spring day. Music, according to Örnatorpet, is the primary element of virtual reality as Hymner Från Snökulla has the power to create a feeling of mental fugue.

Hymner Från Snökulla is a fresh and wonderful album, an aspiring work of art and an amazing trip through chilly winter soundscapes. And also a candid orchestral movement that paints a detailed picture through synthetic voices. It is an amazing album to get lost in.
