Kosmik Boogie Tribe – We’re Not Here To Fuck Spiders Review

With a name like We’re Not Here To Fuck Spiders you know an album has got to be something good (it means down to business in the land of Oz.) It is too, it’s thirty-five minutes of blues inspired heavy rock that’s got groove and the sincerest spirit going on. Written and performed by the mighty Oslo-based Kosmik Boogie Tribe who are occassionally also know as Lobby Loyde Is The Reason this third album is a fun trip into and through psychedelic rock, and it definitely means business.

We’re Not Here To Fuck Spiders has got serious drive behind its dirty sound. Inspiring long roads, dark nights and steamy windows. It’s a trip worth taking taking too. The riffs are heavily inspired by the blues and a smarter kind of punk music. However the bass lines are designed to trail the main melodies so don’t expect anything too complicated but don’t go looking for easy listening either.

Kosmik Boogie Tribes’ third album sits neatly between neo-hippie music and disgruntled grunge with the sound production leaning closer to the former. The lyrical content is anything but however, with the latter half of the album flexing more with true anarchistic sentiments. Kosmik Boogie Tribe aren’t out to please, they’re out for pleasure and to “destroy the current ratshit music scene in Oslo.”

Just don’t forget about the rest of the world guys! We’re Not Here To Fuck Spiders while not revolutionary is a Norweignan export that’s just as incendiary as black metal. Which on the right stage could set the world on fire.
