King Satan – I Want You To Worship Satan Review

Release date: 22nd November 2019

After stumbling across this band at Nummirock two years ago and falling in love with their live show, I acquainted myself with their debut album and eagerly awaited more from this talented band. Having had sneak peaks of two new songs at other shows of theirs (Fuck Yoga in Bucharest last year and The Killing Of God at this year’s Talvihelvetti), I had high hopes for what was in store for us on the rest of the album and needless to say, King Satan did not disappoint.

I Want You To Worship Satan feels like a nice step up from King Fucking Satan. It’s a little more polished, but still has all the charm and hooks that made the debut as good as it was. The album starts very strongly with the first two tracks The Killing Of God and Fuck Yoga (which were both chosen to be released as singles prior to the album’s release), before powering into third track Psychosadomasochism, which is one of the definite highlights. King Satan really go for it with this one, and the sheer energy to the song means it will certainly be a song to watch out for in a live environment – the chorus in particular really hits hard.

My personal favourite is Transgression. Catchy as fuck, it starts off fairly stripped-back and builds up and up until the band’s full sound kicks in and that’s when you know it’s going to be one of those addictive songs you want to listen to over and over until you get sick of it. The electronic lines are particularly strong throughout, and are definite earworms that will be rattling round your head for days after hearing the song.

I Want You To Worship Satan is superb – that’s the long and short of it. King Satan have somehow managed to step things up from their debut, which was an exceedingly strong release in itself, and I strongly advise anyone into their industrial metal to check out this band.

10/10
