Hok-key – In Existence Review

Released on: 25th February 2022

In Existence is the exciting new album from Belorussians’ Hok-key. Their sixth full length, Hok-key put their left arm in first. In a neat amalgam of folk-inspired cerebral techno metal. Against the backdrop of time the group set a firm musical identity. In Existence is both Energetic and electrifying. And, may very well hold the future sound of synthetic, and symphonic, metal.

The existential concept behind In Existence is superbly augmented by the presentation of its part. Between the use of synths and pedals this album is a composite that is more art than rhythm.

Also, where the guitar track dances between foundation and melody there is a joyful spirit communicated that runs through every change. Henceforth, it is very rare that guitar harmonics are utilised in a purely melodic fashion. And, In addition to emotional riffing.

It is fantastic to hear synths and effects embraced to the level that they appear on In Existence. When, typically the genre has a bias and a tendency to emulate orchestration exclusively. Where Hok-key use technology to its fullest and create a comprehensive article that brings in elements from the past, present and future of music.

Mixing and meshing genres, Hok-key blow through the airwaves like a solar flare. While, long after its runtime the hard hitting beats and many of the accompanying melodies are sure to stay with you. In Existence is very impressive. The music is a Dyson sphere around an inspiring concept.
