Frosttide – Decedents Review

It’s always a pleasure to hear new music from Frosttide and their new EP entitled Decedents is a kickass little piece that hopefully bodes well for what we can expect from their next full-length release.

Consisting of four full-length tracks along with a good, atmospheric introduction, it’s a solid bit of work with a lot of good elements to it and it’s an enjoyable listen that showcases the high quality of Frosttide’s songwriting and musicianship. At times the sound quality seems a little muffled (hopefully I’ve just got a slightly low quality review copy!) but other than that, there’s not much that can be faulted here.

Third track Carved Into Ice is a personal highlight for me. The keyboard introduction is stunning and adds a lot of ambience before the wall of guitar hits you like a tonne of bricks, moving in sync with the keys, and the vocal performance on this one is perhaps my favourite on any Frosttide release – the versatility, variety and passion is stunning, to say the least.

Decedents is a mighty listen and certainly worth checking out – Frosttide have delivered once again and have certainly whet my appetite for things to come with album number three!
