Sometimes, you just need your music to have that aggressive and noisy in-your-face delivery to really hit the spot just right – and a band that does to an extremely high standard is Delirious Compulsion, whose debut album Erratum of Dysphoria is just an all-out aural assault on your ears, in the best possible way.
Erratum of Dysphoria is a very meaty-sounding piece, and what I find particularly impressive is how coherent and unified the album is as a whole. Despite it being an entirely international project with members from United Kingdom, Czech Republic, USA and Switzerland, it honestly sounds like it could have all been recorded in the same room, in a single take. The music definitely has that ‘live’ vibe to it, which I personally find really cool.
There’s plenty to sink your teeth into on Erratum of Dysphoria, with an early highlight being second track Luminescence of Light. A massively energetic piece, the deep gutturals just sound wonderfully nasty when paired up with the wall of sound courtesy of the instrumentation. Another personal highlight is Path of Circuitry the Catalysts for the Corrupted, featuring riffs for days and a frenetic energy you can’t help but want to bang your head along to.
As a whole, this is an all-round solid debut from the four-piece, and I for one can’t wait to see what they cook up next. Erratum of Dysphoria is a mighty bit of work, and an album that I will certainly be revisiting a lot over the coming weeks. Delirious Compulsion have got their their blend of brutal/tech-death metal absolutely nailed, and have really crafted an engaging release as a result of this.
