This year, I thought I would do something a little different compared to a standard ‘end-of-year list’. There have been plenty of awesome albums, EPs and songs released this year – so for the 24 days of advent, I will be sharing some of my favourite cuts of 2025 along with a short review of each.
The Villains Have Wings – Not Enough
I stumbled across The Villains Have Wings via a shared post on the now-defunct The Sun Explodes’ facebook page. As a fan of TSE, I had high hopes for what to expect from The Villains Have Wings, and I was not disappointed!
Ouroboros is an incredibly strong start to the album, with a striking intro and a vocal line so catchy that you can’t help but want to sing along. Another highlight is Betrayer – released as a single, it is also my favourite part of a three-part mini epic entitled “PAIN”. I love the flow of the three tracks, with the first Pins And Needles serving as more of an intro before fleshing out into two songs which both fit together seamlessly and also stand alone in their own right.
Not Enough is fantastic – and needless to say, I am already keen for more from this talented duo.
