This year, I thought I would do something a little different compared to a standard ‘end-of-year list’. There have been plenty of awesome albums, EPs and songs released this year – so for the 24 days of advent, I will be sharing some of my favourite cuts of 2025 along with a short review of each.
I Prevail – Violent Nature
I Prevail are back with a bang! Their first release with Eric solely fronting the band, they take no prisoners and deliver ten mighty songs that leave no room for doubt – honestly this is their best album yet.
There’s a great amount of variety on the album, with a nice blend of melodic tracks and aggressive. I actually struggled to narrow down my three ‘picks’ of the album, that’s how good every track is. Violent Nature is an all-out aural assault with not a single clean vocal in sight, whereas Annihilate Me is more melodically-driven for the most part. My personal favourite track without a doubt has to be Stay Away though. Eric’s stunning clean vocals sound haunting on this and as soon as you get lulled into believing it’s one of the softer songs thanks to the stripped-back melodic intro, you’re immediately faced with a wall of noise in the best possible way.
Already looking forward to the show in Manchester next year – it’s going to be almighty!
