This year, I thought I would do something a little different compared to a standard ‘end-of-year list’. There have been plenty of awesome albums, EPs and songs released this year – so for the 24 days of advent, I will be sharing some of my favourite cuts of 2025 along with a short review of each.
Karl Casey – White Bat EPs
I’m choosing to do something a little different with the music that Karl Casey has released over the past twelve months. All of the music he releases on his youtube/bandcamp is completely free to use in creative projects with credit, which is awesome enough in itself – and that’s before you even take into consideration the fact it is all so fucking good.
Every month, he releases a new six-track White Bat EP on his bandcamp for free (I personally always pay for it though) and I always look forward to the first of the month for this exact reason! From the Doom-esque squeals in Invasion Los Angeles, to the Halloween vibes in You Can’t Kill The Boogeyman and the downright dark feeling of Trapped In The Simulation, there’s always plenty to sink your teeth into.
Although I personally tend to enjoy his industrial and Doom-inspired tracks more, I also have a lot of time for his more chilled out music too. And despite the fact I own over 600 songs by him – I still haven’t found one that I don’t like. Here’s to more awesome synthwave in 2026!!!
