This year, I thought I would do something a little different compared to a standard ‘end-of-year list’. There have been plenty of awesome albums, EPs and songs released this year – so for the 24 days of advent, I will be sharing some of my favourite cuts of 2025 along with a short review of each.
You Win Again Gravity – Don’t Leave Me Here, Part 1
I first came across You Win Again Gravity in 2014 with their Brightly Coloured Landscapes EP. It was a decent listen, but perhaps not the most memorable so the band slipped under my radar afterwards. Cut to eleven years later, and an advert for their new album randomly appeared in my Instagram feed. Gave it a listen, and my jaw dropped. Quite simply, this album is incredible.
The emotion, colour and depth to the music is something to behold. Melodically-led, the emotion in both the vocals and the instrumentation will give you goosebumps. The harsh line in opener Dreadbound really hits you like a tonne of bricks, and as for later track Lost Within The Leaves – just listen to it and prepare to be absolutely floored.
It’s also part one of a concept piece – so needless to say, I absolutely will not be letting part two pass me by quite so easily!
