You Me At Six – Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff 9/02/15

It’s great to see such a buzz around the arena. It’s definitely a night for the young ones as many parents accompany their children to this rock show, some looking as young as 6.

All Time Low bounce on stage and play what feels like a barrage of hits. The fans go wild and for good reason, these energetic pop punk lads show Cardiff bands like them do matter.

The band decide they need some new rock stars and pick out a handful of fans to come up on stage to sing along to hit Time Bomb and if that wasn’t enough, during the last song Alex, Jack and Zack jump down into crowd to party with the front row. They’ve certainly made some fans dreams come true tonight.

The only thing that puts a sour taste on the set is guitarists Jack’s mouth, let’s just say a little mature for many parents liking. Although singer Alex does well to distill Jack’s constant horny comments it comes with their territory. The last time I saw them he collected bras but tonight he ends the set parading around in his underpants.

IMG_5113As the crowd cool down it’s You Me At Six‘s turn to dominate the stage. One by one they come on and one by one they get individual ovation. It’s feeling electric tonight and once again the screen behind overshadows the band to illuminate a huge stage for the pop rockers to run a mock with.

Singer Josh apologies for his lack of movement due to a recent broken ankle and mentions manning up to complete the tour. However, that doesn’t stop him from twirling around like a fairy princess and enjoying his time on stage. They slow it down with Crash which sees the crowd sing their hearts out perfectly to Josh’s harmonies.

As they plough through the set there are moments where the sound feels a little stale but equally made up for when hits such as Bite My Tongue are played and brings the levels of madness from the young ones back to a high. It’s also their first night on their arena tour and things can only get better from here.

It’s a night full of cheeky stage antics, fireworks, inflatable beach balls, more fireworks and moving performances, everything you could ask for in a rock show. An explosive start to their UK tour.
