Skarlett Riot ‘Villain’ EP review.

Skarlett Riot ‘Villain’

8/10

This isn’t a new EP, it was released in March, but I’ve only just been introduced to this female fronted, hard rock band from North Lincolnshire and felt they were just too good not to share.

Skarlett Riot play hard rock tinged with traditional heavy metal and with plenty of melody and hooks.

The EP kicks off with ‘Party Hard’ an uptempo rocker, full of killer riffs and gang vocals.

‘Read My Lips’ is up next and is a great track, Skarlett’s vocals are the star of the show and this track has a memorable chorus that makes your head bob!

This self released EP sounds great, and the band, singer/guitarist Skarlett, Danny- Guitars/Backing Vox, Tom – Bass/Backing Vox and Luke – Drums are great musicians and really shine, especially on ‘You’re The Enemy’, one of the standout tracks here.

Title track and first video from the EP, ‘Villain’ is the last of the 4 main tracks here. The video has been all over Scuzz and Kerrang! TV, and with good reason, it’s a top track, riff heavy and anthemic as hell.

The EP finishes with 2 bonus tracks, ‘Take It All’ and a censored version of ‘Read My Lips’.

This is a great sounding EP from a band whose star is definitely on the rise, they are touring the UK at the moment so put them on you to-do list.
