Questions with… LoveSick Radio
If we could briefly describe LoveSick Radio, they’d be down right good time, up to date, hard rocking and American. They’re passionate, talented and apparently a bunch of guys who adore the Stereophonics. We spoke to Justin and Dave of the band, here goes…
1. Who are you and what do you do?
Justin: This is Justin – vocals and hospitality, and Dave – guitar and exotic dance extraordinaire!
2. How did you get started?
Justin&Dave: Our bass player (Masters) literally ran into Dave at a bar in our home town and spilled a drink on his shirt. They exchanged a few words and learned that both of them were in similar band situations. The following week the four of us got together and immediately wrote a couple songs. Looking back they sucked, but at the time felt magical.
3. What have you got going on at the moment?
Justin&Dave: The release of our debut album Heartbreak 4 Dummies and getting ready to hit the road!
4. Favourite music and why?
Justin&Dave: We all agree on Aerosmith because they’ve remained cool for decades and thats something not a lot of bands can do. We all have personal influences ranging from David Bowie, Daft Punk, The Roots, Stereophonics to The Stones, The Beatles and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
5. Favourite book and why?
David: Don’t Try This at Home by Dave Navarro
Justin: Not my favourite but 2012 the return of Quetzalcoatl (most recent).
6. Favourite film and why?
Justin: The Matrix. It describes the human condition pretty accurately. A very symbolic movie. Most recently is Avatar for the exact same reasons.
David: The Ninth Gate. I find things of the supernatural interesting and of course Transformers, whats not to like about things that transform?
7. Best experience in the business?
Justin&Dave: Hearing our song on the radio and seeing our appearance on MTV’s Super Annoying Sweet 16!
8. Tell our readers an interesting fact about the band?
Justin&Dave: We all dream in colour and are disease free.
9. Who are your role models/idols?
David: Joe Perry. I want to be as cool as him when I grow up.
Justin: Steven Tyler. He can sing and rap and dance like a woman and is still god.
10. Hardest thing about the current business?
Justin&Dave: Mixing the business with the artist and getting people to pay attention.
The band are doing something very intriguing for the release of ‘Heartbreak 4 Dummies’. If you go to the bands website www.lovesickradio.com you can download the album and get a piece of the album, meaning if the record sells over 50,000 units you get a piece back, it’s a great way of feeling a part of the industry and I urge you to check it out.
