Promoting The Milk

There’s nothing like a bit of old school grafting to promote your show right?
We’re talking about the old age of flyering and getting out on the streets.

Not long ago we witnessed The Milk’s first live show down in the dregs of Cardiff Barfly. Now they’re back and bigger at Cardiff’s Millennium Music Hall, June 4th. If you’ve ever caught eye of the madness they provoke on youtube, such as Ross Kemp on Gangs, Nick & Kevin, The Party Planners… well, in all honesty, that’s no context to what they pile out live. It’s cruder, funnier, and balls out offensive to anyone that can be offended. In an all round enjoyable manner of course.

When we heard Alex of The Guns and key player in The Milk mentioning the idea of busking acoustic numbers of both outside of Spillers, plus giving away some shirts and tickets to promote the show we couldn’t resist heading down to watch and follow them about.

Well, not two songs we witnessed before the ‘loving’ security of St Davids 2 came out to shoo away the poor fella. Who knew they owned even across the street right? No wonder Spillers has hit a burrow in this area.

But moving on and a few ‘cool’ spots later, tickets sold, shirts gone, photo’s with the fans and innocent passersby followed by a man playing as loud as his Hawaiian shirt, they eventually hit the park. It’s not often you’re relaxing, waiting for your mates to show up but instead this man approaches you to tell you about this mad Milk show coming up and then plays you No No Know.

That’s the way we like to see some hard graft done, and not a bad way to grab some attention either.
