Editor’s Playlist – 13 April 2015

It’s Monday, so that means it’s time for a brand new playlist for your listening pleasure! See what we’ve been listening to below and get involved on our last.fm page here!

Sirenia – Once My Light
Sirenia will be releasing their new album The Seventh Life Path in a few weeks and Once My Light is the first cut that has been revealed from it in the shape of a brand new music video from the symphonic metallers. Keep an eye on the site for our review of the album coming in the next week or so and in the mean time, check this song out whilst you wait!

Sinners Moon – My Servant
Sinners Moon have just released their new album Atlantis (check out our review of it here) and to celebrate, the band have also released a lyric video for their song My Servant, which also features guest vocals from Sonata Arctica’s Tony Kakko and his voice slots into the mix rather well, complementing the female vocals perfectly.

Christgrinder – Things That Walk Which Ought To Crawl
The new Christgrinder album Whence Cometh Evil? is a great and versatile piece of work that sees the band firing from all cylinders and one of the highlights of it is this track, Things That Walk Which Ought To Crawl. The atmospheric moments coupled up with the magnificent heaviness is something to behold and if this track doesn’t convince you to pick up a copy of the new album, perhaps reading my review will fully make up your mind – check it out here.

Turmion Kätilöt – Elävä Koneeksi
I have been listening to a lot of Finnish industrial metal outfit Turmion Kätilöt this week and there’s just something special about their music. To cut right to the point, the industrial/techno elements in the music are absolutely top notch and can get stuck in your head for days on end, and this song is perhaps one of the catchiest on their latest opus, Technodiktator. Turn this one up and listen to it on full volume!

Whispered – Lady Of The Wind
Just over a week ago, Whispered made an announcement on their facebook page that they’d started recording the drums for their upcoming third album – exciting stuff, to say the least, so it only seemed right that I share a song from their previous (and absolutely excellent) album, Shogunate Macabre. Whispered is a band that blends melodic death metal with traditional Japanese folk elements and it’s a sublime mix; both striking and unique, and it will stick in your mind for long after you’ve finished listening.
