My name is Gavin and I sing in a band called The Blackout
2. How did Monster Merch get started?
I’ve been designing merch for The Blackout for a while now so I decided to do something for myself. We were on a fairly long tour back in April and started designing things during our down tour. It kind of had a running theme of Monsters so I decided to start selling them.
3. What has Monster Merch got going on at the moment?
It’s in it’s infancy at the moment, I didn’t have much cash to have a full blown line straight away so i’m adding to it as we go. Hopeully in the next month or so I should be getting some more items up online.
4. Why should Soundscape readers care?
If they already care about owning awesome and cute shirts, then they don’t need a reason.
5. Tell our readers an interesting fact about Monster Merch?
All the designs are inspired by the “Classic” Monster Movies from the 30’s. I’ve always loved them, everyone knows who or what they are and hopefully my designs have taken a different look at them.
6. Who are your role models/idols?
Standing out. It has to be standing out. There are so many different brands out there all doing their own thing it’s tough to get noticed. That’s why I’ve gone for the small start, to try and gain a small but firm footing before I try too much.
8. What can we look forward to seeing from Monster Merch in the future?
I’m going to try and get all the designs from this line up and out there before the end of the year. I’m looking into more than clothing too, maybe some 3d figurines, I think they would be really cool.
9. What would you like to see happen with Monster Merch in the near and far future?
I’m just hoping it can grow into a cool little mercy company that just keeps going.
10. Best thing that’s happened with Monster Merch so far?
Getting it started. As I said I didn’t have much cash to start it up so it nearly didn’t happen at all. But we got there, so onwards and upwards.
Head over to The Monster Merch store to buy some rad threads and check out all the new designs as they occur.
