Behind The Scenes: Midday Committee on She Gets Me

Midday Committee

Midday Committee recently released their new single She Gets Me for free download from their bandcamp page – and you can listen to the song and watch the video below! We wanted to find out more about the song, so we caught up with bassist Adam Hall for a lowdown on the song and video.

What’s the story behind She Gets Me?
When you meet a girl and you feel they can do no wrong. Sometimes things just click, even when you know they probably shouldn’t. But who cares right? You’re love blinded by all of it.

Can you describe your writing and recording process for the song?
Well it all started with the title lyric, “she gets me”. I thought it was a good hook so I put it in a melody and showed the others. We built the song around that. We ran with it and it just wrote itself. If only it was all that easy, eh?

What made you choose this song as a single?
We’d been playing it at gigs beforehand and it seemed to be a memorable song. You have people saying “ah I really like that new one…err she gets me”. So you’ve gotta’ listen and give people what they want I guess.

Would you say it’s representative of your next release?
I think it’s a representation of our sound in general, I mean it’s very us but there is something different about it and there has been progression. We can’t say for certain what the next release will be like as it’s still in the writing/pre-production stages but we have a few gems hidden away and this single will definitely bridge the gap from Girls In Open C to the next record.

And what do you have in the works for the rest of the year?
I think we’ll be busy behind the scenes. We’re announcing our last 2015 tour soon and we’re midway through writing a new record. We’ve done a lot this year already, so it’s nice to have some time to purely focus on writing new stuff for the future.
