Kymberley Kennedy is a singer, songwriter and producer based in Yorkshire ready to release her emotional debut album Head Games. The title track was made available through YouTube on June 21st, and teased deep and dark tones enriched with Kymberley’s hauntingly sensual voice. Released as a single on June 28th, Head Games is a dreamy portend of dangerous things to come; A revealing and empowering objective that’s given life through music.

Already recognized across the Atlantic, her track All I Wanted was featured as the main theme in the motion picture Syrup (2013) and another, Make Me Wanna found prominence in the Beatport Top 100. Both tracks are set to reappear on the forthcoming album.

Realising the album on her own grounds Kymberley wrote the majority of Head Games between live shows and studying for a degree in Psychology. In a sense structuring her thoughts, feelings and experiences into a memorable fancy over pure beats and tranquil melodies. Kymberley states that “When you write without agenda a lot of things surface. […] It can either be exhilarating or it can be emotionally painful, but if you choose to draw on those emotions, you can also end up freeing yourself from them.” Unfettered in her creative exploits Kimberley hasn’t just found her sound but fucking owns it as well.

Kymberley is nominated for two Grassroots Awards in the categories of Outstanding Band/Artist and Outstanding Songwriter this year. Having previously won Best New Track in the BREAKSPOLL Awards for her collaboration with A.Skillz on Dead Ringer, this is where she began defining her craft as a singer/songwriter. It’s now evident more than ever that Kymberley is an artist with a distinct voice. Even James Warren of the Korgis approves of her unique talent acceding her take on their song I Need Your Lovin‘ which will also feature on the forthcoming album.

A busy summer sees Kymberley headlining her first regional UK tour with her band beginning on July 22nd at The Exchange in Keighley and which also boasts the opportunity to appear in their next official music video. The tour finishes up with an exclusive free show in Harrogate at The Blues Bar on August 14th. The proposition for free music has never sounded so encouraging and worthwhile. Head Games will be released the following day August 15th which makes me think Release Party and a chance to get your hands on a physical copy before the Monday post arrives.

You can find out more about Kymberley Kennedy and the complete list of dates from the forthcoming tour on her official website.
