Who are you and what do you do?
Hi! I’m Nathan, and I am one of two guitarists in Breathe In The Silence!
How did you get started?
We formed in August 2012, between myself, our vocalist Adamross and Ex-bassist Jonathan. We were fresh out of ex projects and wanted to play something more to our tastes, more upbeat and just to have a good laugh playing gigs again. Jon asked Ricky to join, and we recruited my long-time friend Conor on drums. After Jon left to pursue university, Jake joined in October-ish 2013 and is still with us now!
What’s it like to make it to the final eight of the Red Bull Studios competition?
It’s an absolutely amazing feeling, and only now it’s starting to sink in that we’re going to be playing the biggest Rock festival in the UK. We’ve had so much good come from this opportunity regardless of playing Download. The exposure and great experience up in the Red Bull Studios in London has been a phenomenal help in shaping our band! It’s brought us much closer together as a unit.
Have you got any surprises in store for you Download set?
Expect to see us going wilder than you’ve ever seen us play before, we plan on going absolutely bonkers in Download and getting pretty mashed afterwards as well. We’re in talks about other things, but if I told you it wouldn’t be a surprise now would it?
Who are you most looking forward to seeing play at Download?
I personally am looking forward to seeing letlive. for the first time since I fell in love with their new album. Apparently Jason Butler goes absolutely crazy on stage as well. So I’m really looking forward to them!
What’s your best festival memory either personally attending as a fan or in the band? And what’s your advice to all the festival goers?
I have only been to Reading festival, and that was once in 2012 when Foo Fighters headlined the Sunday. The best festival memory is definitely after a heavy nights drinking we were out in the main arena, to where Adam spits his chewing gum into the air, and tries to kick it. As he goes to kick it, He slips on the mud and lands in front of two very pretty girls. Needless to say, he was gutted. The rest of us however, were buckled in laughter. My advice to festival goers, don’t bother taking boots as they rub on your feet and give you massive blisters. Take wellies and comfortable trainers and you should be all in the clear!
