InMe – The Destinations EP Review

InMe DestinationsInMe finally return with new songs for the first time in 2 years. And to introduce you to the return of InMe they’ve released a 4 track EP.

Pelorus Jack is like the classic InMe. The vocals and guitar on this track are very typical of InMe of old. The driving drums help round this track into an instant hit. It’s easy to see this will be a mosh pit favourite in a live setting.

Next track Anthemusa launches straight in and it’s a strange mixture of a track. It mixes elements of prog rock, hard classic rock and a bit in between. There’s a sweet guitar solo in this track.

Driftwood Figurines has some real atmospheric elements to it but a catchy as hell chorus. It’s a real toe tapper in that sense. The guitar solo in this just emphasises the atmospheric elements further and really helps round this track fully for its big conclusion.

Final track Beached Whales is Muse-sequence in its sound and approach. It’s has the classic Matt Bellemy style warbling vocals and the soft but powerful guitar and atmospheric sounds. It’s a different direction for InMe, but it’s certainly one that suits them.

The Destinations EP really shows a maturity and how InMe have grown as musicians in their hiatus. It’s a really nice introduction to what else this band could bring in the future of their return. A fantastic return for another British band showcasing that Brits can certainly rock. Well worth checking out.
