Ember Falls – Welcome To Ember Falls Review

ember falls welcome to ember fallsA few months ago, I visited Finland to see some friends and to watch a favourite band of mine, Turmion Kätilöt, perform in Kuopio and Helsinki. At the latter of the two shows, support came from Ember Falls, who put on a very impressive show – and I’ve been eagerly awaiting to hear their upcoming debut album ever since.

Welcome To Ember Falls certainly doesn’t disappoint – this is an album packed with eleven tracks that are absolute belters. Each song features a powerful performance from the band, with a good blend between an electronic and a rockier approach in the instrumentation, and is topped off with some mighty vocals for good measure. The album is certainly funky enough to dance and sing along to, should you so wish to, and the momentum of the piece as a whole means that it will hold your attention from start to finish.

There’s plenty of great inclusions on the album, such as the catchy Falling Rain, which features an absolute earworm of a chorus, and later song One More Time is instrumentally a somewhat heavier track that feels like a pure brick wall of energy at times, however the highlight of the album has to be third number Of Letting Go. The introduction is catchy enough on its own, but when the full band kicks in with the addition of the vocals, that’s when the song really draws you in. It’s addictive and memorable, and is a song that will go down a storm in a live environment – it’s a stadium-filler track, for sure.

This album is very strong, and considering that it’s only Ember Falls’ debut release, the future looks bright for this talented up-and-coming band.
