Elissa Franceschi – Devoid Of Rue EP Review

The new EP from Soundscape favourite and awesomely talented singer/songwriter Elissa Franceschi has been released early to fans who pledged through the popular funding platform Pledge Music and is getting an iTunes release on June 24th.

Devoid Of Rue is 5 brand new tracks and the song Salt from her last album Into The Light.

First track All These Days, is an upbeat number and one of the best here, its a wonderful track with a big chorus, layers of sound and a jawdropping vocal from Elissa.

Elissa has an incredibly unique voice, in equal measures fragile and powerful with a quite frankly stunning range, She uses it to great effect on piano based slow number Oceans.

Outside My Body is a full-on pop/funk number and is brilliant, it features more, relatable lyrics dealing with the themes of love and relationships, another highlight of this EP. Elissa’s songwriting is outstanding, each song is different but instantly recognisable as hers.

The musicianship here is spot on, Elissa really has assembled a great group of musicians for this project. Chasing Something is another great song, full of awesome melodies and harmonies.

Final track Salt will be familiar to some as it’s received Radio 1 airplay and also features Elissa’s brother Josh (singer of You Me At Six) and is an outstanding duet, the siblings voices working perfectly together.

Elissa is massively talented and definitely deserves to be huge, I have a feeling this EP could really kickstart that.
