Brody Dalle – Diploid Love Review

Brody Dalle - Diploid LoveBrody Dalle has had a successful music career to date fronted one of the most rocking punk rock bands if the 90’s. But she took a break and now she’s back showcasing her solo talent.

The opening track Rat Race is somewhat similar to The Distillers in it’s driving punk rock beat. But it’s a bit of a newer sound for Dalle and it’s really catchy. The brass section is a really unique sound at the moment and it brings the track together really nicely.

Dressed In Dreams is an enchanting track. It will make you nod your head. Brody’s voice is very unique and this song really sells the use of her vocal performance. It accompanies the arpeggio style guitar parts perfectly.

There’s an industrial feel to Carry On. It’s simplicity is what drives the track along and really makes it feel like it’s got a bit of 80’s flair to it.

Blood In Gutters starts with some hefty bass and a driving drum beat. This track reminds a little of The Distillers, but it’s probably more Brody’s vocals.

There have been many women in rock over the years but few have managed to produce such a strong and talented release, firmly getting her elbows out with all the guys in rock. Or at least there’s been very few in the last decade or so, so it’s nice to see when there is one.

7/10
