Black Peaks – Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff 18/02/16

To say Black Peaks are fast becoming everyones favourite new British band may sound a little biased but heck, they deserve it. With their debut album Statues coming out in April they’re currently doing the rounds to promote it and people are eager to see them tonight. Clwb Ifor Bach have a reputation for booking upcoming bands and Black Peaks are no exception to that.

There’s a good chunk of people here tonight that have supported and been willing for their success for some time it seems. What does stand out is the smiles on fans faces when the band play to their finest. They’re full of energy that oozes into the crowd and the crowds reaction tonight is exceptional.

Singer Will stomps across the stage throwing his arms about whilst enticing the crowd to join them in their madness. Many times he overlooks the crowd, staring intensely to keep their attention.

Black Peaks fusion of Deftones, Mastodon and their own unique style makes for impressive listening live. What impresses most is the ability to go from a roaring scream to harmonies in a heartbeat. Many bands never quite seem to pull it off live but Black Peaks work through it flawlessly.

They play a tight show full of passion and their chemistry as a band on stage just tops it off. Last track Glass Built Castles really shows off all their strengths. It’s the finisher everyone was waiting for and it’s a blinding knockout.

Black Peaks will truly blow you away live. They definitely do not disappoint.
