Soundscape’s A-Z Of Bands: The Lagan

Soundscape’s A-Z Of Bands: The Lagan

This week, our featured band is The Lagan, who are personally my best discovery of 2013. Being a self-confessed folk metal fangirl, the energetic and frantic-paced folk aspects of their unique “folk punk” genre grabbed my interest upon my first listen and they’re a band that you won’t forget in a hurry.

Although they formed in 2008, it wasn’t until 2013 that they released their debut album Where Is Your Messiah Now?, which is ten tracks of sheer awesomeness. We gave it full marks, but you shouldn’t just take our word for it – check out the video for one of their best songs, Same Shite Different Night and make your mind up yourself:

Earlier this year, the band started posting ‘choice quotes’ from their tours, which have now become somewhat infamous and can be viewed in all their glory either on the band’s twitter page, or in a handy folder on their facebook – and trust me when I say it’s well worth your while to give them a read!

The Lagan will be playing a few dates in the coming weeks, and if their debut album is anything to go by then you can be sure they’ll put on one hell of a live show!
