Soundscape’s A-Z Of Bands: Killswitch Engage

This week for our A-Z we’re taking a more mainstream approach with our featured band being Killswitch Engage.

Formed in 1999, the band has seen a few unusual lineup changes and switches, with their original drummer Adam D switching to lead guitar after the release of their 2002 album Alive Or Just Breathing, and original singer Jesse Leach leaving in 2002 to be replaced by Howard Jones before returning to the fold in 2012 after Jones’ departure from the band.

Leach’s vocal capabilities are something to behold and he easily tackles Jones’ tracks in a live environment whilst giving his own unique twist on them and on the subject of live performances, guitarist Adam D has somewhat of a reputation for his crazy onstage antics, often found onstage wearing a cape and short shorts! Arguably one of his best moments, however, was when he took the role of the sleeping princess in the video for their infamous cover of Holy Diver:

The band’s most recent album Disarm The Descent was released earlier this year, and they will be returning to UK shores in 2014 for a co-headline tour with Trivium that’s surely not to be missed!
